The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on Apr. 15 that it will carry out routine maintenance and control work on the Vía de Evitamiento in Ollantaytambo, Cusco, to ensure transit for residents and visitors. The intervention is coordinated with the district municipality due to increased vehicle flow along this temporarily enabled route while paving works continue on the main access road to the city.
According to MTC, these efforts are part of its ongoing policy for road conservation aimed at maintaining transitability and infrastructure across Peru. The project covers approximately three kilometers between Araccama and Rumira sectors along national route PE-28B.
Technical staff equipped with heavy machinery will perform shaping of the road as well as dust control measures intended to improve visibility and safety for users. Additional work includes profiling, compacting, and strengthening the surface using graders, rollers, and water trucks. These actions are designed to preserve the condition of the bypass until completion of paving works on Ollantaytambo’s main access route.
The Ministry supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving connectivity through enhanced transport infrastructure according to its official website. It also operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to increase public access according to its official website.
