The Ministry of Transport and Communications, through Provías Nacional, announced on March 20 that it has approved the resolution of observations for Report No. 4 of the Definitive Study for the “Improvement of the Huancavelica – Santa Inés – Empalme Ruta 28A via Los Libertadores (Pámpano)” road project. The study was submitted by the Regional Government of Huancavelica on March 17.

This development marks the completion of a key technical step needed to move forward with a major infrastructure project aimed at improving transportation links in the region. The progress is part of coordinated efforts between the Ministry and the Regional Government under an inter-institutional cooperation agreement.

The project is expected to directly benefit districts such as Santa Ana, Ascensión, and Huancavelica in Castrovirreyna province, as well as the district of Huancavelica itself. It aims to improve road conditions and reduce travel times for residents.

In terms of land acquisition, significant progress has been made: nearly 58 kilometers now have Commitment Agreements in place, representing about 82.6 percent of the required area. This process involved participation from local farming communities including San José de Astobamba, San Gerónimo, Sacsamarca, and Callqui Chico.

Additionally, officials reported that another related project—the “Improvement of the Santa Inés – Empalme Ruta 28A Via Los Libertadores (Puente Rumichaca)” road—has had its Definitive Study approved since March 7. The awarding process for construction is expected to take place in April this year.

With these steps completed, the Ministry said it remains committed to promoting strategic road infrastructure that enhances connectivity, stimulates local economies, and improves quality of life for people living in Huancavelica.
