The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on Apr. 22 that it is moving forward with several road infrastructure projects in the Piura region, aiming to improve safety and transportation for local residents.
These initiatives are part of the government’s efforts to close infrastructure gaps and support national development. The ministry said it is focused on enhancing connectivity and accessibility across Peru through improved transport and communications infrastructure, according to the official website.
During a recent inspection visit, Vice Minister of Transport Juan del Carmen Haro Muñoz, together with Claudia Dávila Moscoso, executive director of Provías Nacional, and Luis Neyra León, regional governor of Piura, reviewed progress at the Santa Rosa, Quebrada Honda, and Pedregal bridges. Construction work at these sites is set to begin soon. The group also inspected ongoing construction at Bonapira Bridge—which has reached 57.18% completion—and San Francisco Bridge at 34.98% completion.
In addition to new construction projects, repairs are underway on Sullana Bridge. Current work has achieved a 30% completion rate on one side of the bridge while maintaining traffic flow; repairs will shift to the other side once this phase is finished.
The MTC operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to enhance public access throughout Peru according to the official website. It functions as part of Peru’s executive branch with authority over transport and communications sectors under its minister’s guidance as reported by the official website.
According to information from its official website, MTC delivers safe, sustainable and inclusive transport services through multimodal approaches since beginning operations in 1969. These efforts aim not only for improved mobility but also for greater national integration through partnerships with other public entities.
