The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced on March 19 that more than 1,000 business owners from Lima and other regions have received training so far this year as part of the “Fortalece Tu Mercado” strategy. The initiative is carried out through the National Program Tu Empresa and aims to bring services closer to market traders.

The program seeks to help traders improve their business management by providing practical resources for a more organized, efficient, and sustainable administration. According to PRODUCE, the strategy has been implemented in several districts of Lima such as Surquillo, as well as in regions including Reque in Lambayeque; AAHH Pachacútec in Ventanilla, Callao; Pisco in Ica; Azángaro in Puno; Moquegua; and Tacna. The goal is to encourage entrepreneurs toward formalization, which can open up new commercial opportunities, access to financing, and greater security for business growth.

During a recent session at the JOSFEL market in Ate district, Vice Minister of Micro and Small Enterprises (MYPE) and Industry Juan Carlos Requejo Alemán highlighted the national reach of the strategy. “We will continue mobilizing our strategy so that more traders can access our training sessions. Fortalece tu mercado is based on five key pillars: Formalization, Management, Digitalization, Financing, and Productive Development—components that address the concrete needs of traders by strengthening their skills for planning and informed decision-making,” he said.

Requejo also noted progress since the launch of the strategy in 2024. “This year our goal is to reach 4,000 traders. We are confident that through the National Program Tu Empresa—in coordination with the National Program for Productive Diversification and other technical teams from our sector—we will surpass our target for the benefit of our traders,” he said.

At JOSFEL market alone, over 100 merchants participated in sessions covering formalization advice and training on artificial intelligence tools and content creation. Attendees showed particular interest in digitalization topics, access to financing options, and business management techniques.

Traders were introduced to MAIA (MYPE Asesor IA), a virtual advisor available around-the-clock via WhatsApp that offers guidance on business management, formalization processes, and digitalization strategies. This tool uses artificial intelligence to help merchants better control daily sales records and manage product inventory.
