The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) recognized 35 emoliente vendors from the district of Puente Piedra with the “Emoliente Bandera” distinction on April 8. The ceremony took place at Plaza Mayor de Puente Piedra and highlighted improvements in handling, hygiene, quality, and innovation among local entrepreneurs.

This recognition follows a joint effort between PRODUCE and the Municipality of Puente Piedra during 2025, which included training sessions, technical assistance, and support for over 135 emoliente vendors. The initiative aimed to strengthen their production capabilities and promote formalization.

Karim Vargas Tavera, director of the Directorate for Market Articulation at PRODUCE’s General Directorate for Business Development, attended the event along with district mayor Rennán Espinoza. The ceremony also marked the symbolic closure of the national “Emoliente Bandera” strategy following Law 32570. This law recognizes emoliente vendors as micro-entrepreneurs and promoters of healthy eating while transferring oversight to the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion.

Since launching its strategy in 2023, PRODUCE has trained more than 1,500 emoliente association members across cities such as Lima, Piura, Trujillo, Arequipa, and Callao. Over 600 vendors have joined a digital platform and more than 110 entrepreneurs have received official recognition.

The Ministry serves producers, entrepreneurs and communities throughout Peru according to its official website. It promotes social inclusion initiatives that aim to improve living conditions for fishermen and producers across Peru through harmonious development efforts according to its official website. The organization provides services such as technical assistance and training designed to enhance productivity among small enterprises according to its official website.

PRODUCE reaffirmed its commitment during the event: “Desde el Ministerio de la Producción se reafirmó el compromiso de seguir impulsando la formalización, el desarrollo productivo y la valorización de los emprendedores en todo el país.”
