The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced on Apr. 6 the launch of the Inclusive Business Solution (IBS) Program, a joint initiative with Hyundai Heavy Industries and the Korea International Cooperation Agency. The program aims to strengthen technical, productive, and management skills among micro and small enterprises in Peru’s metalworking sector linked to the naval industry supply chain.
This development is significant as it supports efforts to enhance local expertise and integrate Peruvian manufacturing into global supply networks. The first group of 25 technicians from 12 small companies was introduced at a ceremony. These individuals were selected by international experts from Hyundai Heavy Industries and KOICA, and will begin intensive training in South Korea focusing on advanced manufacturing specialties such as welding, piping, boilermaking, and quality control.
The IBS Program plans to train a total of 180 technicians and 30 managers under international standards to improve Peru’s technical workforce. Minister of Production César Quispe Luján said this step is important for advancing technology transfer within the country. He also noted that participating companies had previously improved their management practices through ProInnóvate.
Representatives from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, KOICA, POSCO International and other organizations attended the event.
