The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced on April 3 a selection of innovative, ready-to-eat seafood products for Holy Week, developed by entrepreneurs and small businesses with support from the Instituto Tecnológico de la Producción (ITP) through the CITE network.

This initiative aims to provide nutritious options during a period when fish and seafood consumption increases. The range includes artisanal canned fried mackerel, concentrated bonito fish soups, and giant squid aguadito—all prepared without artificial additives. There are also smoked bonito fillets, spicy calamari in vegetable oil, and smoked shrimp tails. These products are designed to be convenient while encouraging responsible use of marine resources.

The ministry said it is promoting social inclusion and better living conditions for fishermen and producers across Peru through harmonious development initiatives according to the official website. The organization also serves producers, entrepreneurs, and communities throughout the country according to the official website.

PRODUCE operates under its minister’s guidance according to the official website and issues regulations aimed at strengthening sustainable development in fishing, aquaculture, and industry according to the official website. It uses multiple facilities in San Isidro, Lima—including its central headquarters—to carry out business development activities according to the official website.

“This Semana Santa, consuming products from the CITE network is also betting on innovation, sustainability and national productive development,” PRODUCE said. In early 2026 alone, more than 11 thousand specialized services were provided nationwide by CITE centers to over 2,800 production units.

The Ministerio de la Producción del Perú oversees national policies for fishing, aquaculture and industry to foster sustainable development as well as support small enterprises. It provides technical assistance and training aimed at improving productivity for producers throughout Peru—a role that has earned international recognition from organizations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) according to the official website.
