The Ministry of Production organized the Open CITE event on April 25, allowing entrepreneurs and business owners in Loreto to learn how technology can help transform their businesses. The event took place at the CITEproductivo Maynas facility, located in San Juan Bautista, Maynas province.

The initiative aimed to connect micro, small and medium-sized enterprises from agroindustry, fishing and aquaculture sectors with specialized technological solutions. Participants toured facilities equipped with advanced technologies and observed real production processes. In the pilot plant for fish processing, attendees saw demonstrations on making nuggets, hamburgers and packaged paiche cuts. The agroindustrial pilot plant showcased ways to add value to Amazonian fruits.

Entrepreneurs also visited the Biofloc aquaculture module—a system designed to improve fish farming—and several accredited laboratories focused on microbiological, physicochemical, instrumental and sensory testing. After these tours, a showroom featured products developed by companies that have worked with CITEproductivo Maynas. Among those exhibiting were Ecological Amazon Food S.A.C., Productos Veba S.A.C., King Bretaña, Alma Andina E.I.R.L., and the Association of Agroindustrial Companies of Loreto.

According to the official website, the Ministry of Production promotes social inclusion and improved living conditions for fishermen and producers throughout Peru through development initiatives. The ministry serves producers, entrepreneurs and communities across Peru; it operates under its minister’s guidance using multiple facilities including headquarters in San Isidro as well as business development centers.

The ministry is responsible for crafting national policies related to fishing, aquaculture, micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises as well as industry—all aimed at sustainable development according to its official website. It issues regulations intended to strengthen sustainability within these sectors.

The Ministerio de la Producción del Perú also provides technical assistance services designed to boost productivity among producers nationwide. Its efforts have received international recognition from organizations such as the OECD for sustainable fishing practices according to its official website.

Open CITE events are described by organizers as an opportunity for small businesses not only to see concrete results but also understand how access to technology and specialized support can enhance their commercial competitiveness.
