The Ministry of Production announced on May 13 that more than 6,400 producers and micro and small enterprises in Loreto have benefited from the technological and innovation services provided by CITEproductivo Maynas. Minister César Quispe Luján visited the center to observe its operations and meet with beneficiaries.

The announcement is significant for regional economic growth, as it underscores efforts to strengthen value-added production in Amazonian resources. The center’s support aims to help local businesses expand their capabilities through technology transfer, training, and innovation.

During his visit, Quispe Luján toured the facilities at CITEproductivo Maynas, which include a pilot fish processing plant focused on species such as paiche and gamitana, an agro-industrial plant, laboratories accredited by INACAL, and a Biofloc module for aquaculture. He addressed attendees by saying: “Ustedes no son pequeños empresarios, son grandes empresarios que conducen microempresas. Sus negocios podrán ser pequeños o medianos, pero ustedes son grandes emprendedores que transforman la realidad de su región.”

Since its creation in 2016, CITEproductivo Maynas has delivered nearly 24,000 technological transfer and innovation services to over 6,400 productive units. A showroom was also held where 25 local companies presented products meeting export standards. The ministry highlighted that technical assistance is crucial for business growth in a region where almost all formal enterprises are micro or small businesses.

As part of his agenda in Loreto, Quispe Luján participated in a session of the Council of Ministers at the Amazon Operations Center of the Peruvian Navy. Discussions included health policy measures for the region as well as updates on Amazonian development plans and oil-related trust funds.

The Ministry of Production serves producers throughout Peru under ministerial guidance; it promotes social inclusion through sustainable development initiatives across fishing, aquaculture, industry sectors—particularly supporting small entrepreneurs—according to the official website.
