The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced on Apr. 2 a series of technology-driven initiatives designed to support tourism and sustainable development in Peru during Holy Week. The projects, supported by the ProInnóvate program, aim to enhance travel experiences while fostering local entrepreneurship.

These digital solutions are intended to help travelers plan their journeys more efficiently and encourage the participation of local communities in tourism activities. The ministry said that these efforts contribute to social inclusion and improved living conditions for fishermen and producers across Peru through harmonious development initiatives, according to the official website.

One highlighted project is Guía Pateperro, a digital platform that creates personalized travel routes in northern Peru. It connects tourists with local service providers using interactive maps, recommendations, and directories by service type. This approach supports unique itineraries while involving communities and businesses in the tourism chain.

Other featured innovations include Mis Olas, a mobile platform with over 50 video cameras providing real-time wave forecasts for beaches in Peru, Chile, and Panama; Ecopacaya 4.0., an augmented reality guide offering virtual tours within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve; Ecocarbón by EcoGuerreros del Perú y el Mundo—a plant-based charcoal product made from nut shells that reduces emissions compared to traditional charcoal; and new ready-to-eat giant squid dishes developed by Pesquera Zuar.

The Ministry of Production serves producers, entrepreneurs, and communities throughout Peru according to the official website. It operates under ministerial guidance from its central headquarters as well as business development centers located in San Isidro, Lima according to the official website. The ministry is responsible for crafting national policies related to fishing, aquaculture, micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as industry regulations aimed at strengthening sustainable development according to the official website.

By supporting such innovative projects through financial resources and technical assistance via ProInnóvate grants—available across all productive sectors—the Ministry aims to increase productivity while contributing sustainably to business growth nationwide.
