The Ministry of Production delivered symbolic credits worth S/ 131,328 to trout producers in Vinchos, Ayacucho during the XXI Regional Trout Festival, according to an April 3 announcement. The event was led by Vice Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Jesús Barrientos Ruiz and Katia Novoa Sánchez, head of the National Fisheries Development Fund (FONDEPES).
The initiative aims to strengthen aquaculture production and support local economic development. According to the Ministry of Production’s official website, the organization promotes social inclusion and improved living conditions for fishermen and producers across Peru through harmonious development initiatives.
Barrientos said, “Today we arrive in Vinchos not only to deliver credits but also to reaffirm that the State is present where production generates real opportunities. In the midst of this great festival of identity and work, these checks represent more investment, more productivity, and better income for our aquaculture families in Ayacucho.” He added that this intervention is part of a strategy by PRODUCE to decentralize services by bringing financing, technical assistance, and training directly to areas with high aquaculture potential.
Katia Novoa Sánchez stated that institutional presence at Vinchos confirms support for sustainable regional trout farming. “The delivery of these credits within the framework of the festival has enormous productive and social value because it recognizes the efforts of our fish farmers and strengthens an activity that drives local economies. From FONDEPES we will continue supporting producers with timely financing and ongoing technical assistance,” she said.
This funding will be used for purchasing 25 metric tons of balanced feed with a projected output of 22 metric tons of fresh trout meat. For 2026, PRODUCE has allocated S/476,312 for Ayacucho with plans for twenty loans as well as technical assistance sessions and training activities aimed at strengthening regional aquaculture competitiveness.
