The Ministry of Production delivered on May 16 credits totaling S/118,533 to aquaculture producers in the district of Vischongo, province of Vilcas Huamán, through the National Fisheries Development Fund. The funding is intended to strengthen aquaculture and improve trout production in the Ayacucho region.
This initiative aims to support small-scale aquaculture and provide financial resources for local producers. The Ministry of Production is responsible for crafting and overseeing national policies in fishing, aquaculture, micro, small and medium enterprises, and industry to foster sustainable development, according to the official website.
Katia Novoa, head of the National Fisheries Development Fund (FONDEPES), and local authorities also attended. Certificates were awarded for completion of a course on good practices in trout farming.
The Municipality of Vilcas Huamán named Minister Quispe Luján an Illustrious Guest as recognition for his work. This distinction was presented as a sign of cooperation between national and local governments toward developing Ayacucho’s aquaculture sector.
In 2025 FONDEPES provided over 250 technical assistance sessions benefiting trout and paco producers in the region. More than 170 people received training through both onsite and virtual events. Additionally, FONDEPES granted 34 aquaculture loans totaling S/767,783 that enabled production of about 126 tons of fresh trout.
