The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation intervened with heavy machinery in Chanchamayo to carry out river clearing work aimed at reducing risks and protecting nearby populations, according to a March 19 announcement. The ministry also held meetings in Satipo to coordinate emergency response actions following intense rainfall in the Junín region.
These efforts are part of the government’s response to emergencies caused by heavy rains. In Chanchamayo province, a team from the ministry inspected cleaning operations on the Chivis River in Pichanaqui district, which helped restore the river’s capacity and lower the risk of flooding. Specialists also supervised similar clearing work on the Garou River in Chanchamayo district, ensuring timely attention from authorities.
Continuing their agenda, ministry representatives met with local officials in Satipo province to assess conditions in areas affected by severe weather and coordinate intervention strategies. A key training session was provided for professionals from Satipo Provincial Municipality, focusing on improving responses to disruptions in sanitation services for communities declared under a state of emergency.
Additionally, at the Norvraem Community headquarters, a working meeting took place with the mayor of Río Tambo district. The group evaluated recorded damages and coordinated actions to assist affected populations, particularly those in native communities.
According to the ministry, these interventions are part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the impact of heavy rains and strengthen emergency response through coordinated work with local governments.
