The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation organized the international seminar “Evidencia que transforma: mejores intervenciones públicas” on April 21 in Lima. The event was held in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action at the Lima Convention Center and aimed to modernize public management by promoting the use of data science, artificial intelligence, and rigorous methodologies among sector leaders and specialists.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen decision-making within the ministry by using evidence-based approaches. The Office of Monitoring and Impact Evaluation led the organization of the seminar, which focused on key topics such as technological modernization, artificial intelligence applications, and integrating evidence into policy design.

According to the official website, the Ministry contributes to social wellbeing by improving access to housing and basic services, supporting sustainable territorial development across Peru. The ministry operates from its central headquarters in San Isidro, Lima, as well as through regional Centers of Citizen Attention throughout the country according to its official website.

Established under Law No. 27779 as an autonomous entity within Peru’s Executive Branch as stated on its official website, the Ministry develops policies that encourage sustainable access to housing, construction, water supply, sanitation services, and urban development for all Peruvians according to its official site. It also issues regulations supporting sustainable growth in these sectors as reported by its official website.

Through events like this seminar and partnerships with international organizations, the Ministry aims to improve living conditions—especially for vulnerable populations—by fostering informed decisions that enhance service delivery nationwide according to information provided on its website.
