The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation announced on Apr. 20 the start of a new urban mobility project in the Villa Toledo sector of Cieneguilla district. The initiative aims to improve public spaces along ten streets and is expected to benefit more than 1,300 residents with new roads, sidewalks, green areas, and retaining walls.
The project is intended to create safer and more accessible environments for all community members. According to the ministry’s statement, “It is a work that will change the lives of all the neighbors in this sector. It is important that they take care of it. (…) Children will be able to play safely, older adults will have a secure space, and people with disabilities will have inclusive areas so everyone can enjoy this project.”
The investment exceeds S/8.3 million and will be carried out by Consorcio Villa Toledo—a group formed by Peruvian companies Construcción & Contratista Generales H.R.J.J. and Jaro Contratista S.A.C—after a competitive bidding process. The work covers Nueva Jerusalén and Canán avenues; Belén, Macedonia, Betel, Peniel, and Real 2 streets; as well as Evemecer, Los Álamos, and Los Sauces passages.
Oversight for these works falls under the Program for Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement (PMIB) within the ministry to ensure proper development for local residents’ benefit.
Minister Wilder Sifuentes also announced that another major infrastructure effort—the expansion and improvement of water supply and sewerage systems in Cieneguilla—has received technical approval along with secured funding from Sedapal resources totaling over S/103 million. This second project aims to enhance sanitary conditions for nearly 4,500 residents through new wells, reservoirs, and networks.
