The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation announced on March 20 that it will provide rental subsidies to 46 families who lost their homes due to heavy rains in the regions of Amazonas, Cajamarca, Arequipa, and Áncash.

The initiative aims to offer immediate support to families whose houses were declared collapsed or uninhabitable after recent emergencies. The assistance allows affected households to rent safe housing with basic services while recovery and reconstruction efforts continue.

“Our objective is that all families affected by the rains have a safe place to live. Through the Emergency Rental Housing Bonus we provide immediate support so that households can rent decent housing while we advance with other solutions,” said representatives from the Ministry of Housing.

The measure was formalized through Ministerial Resolution No. 090-2026-VIVIENDA. According to this regulation, Amazonas will receive 27 subsidies distributed among the districts of Cocabamba, Bagua Grande, and Omia. In Áncash, 11 subsidies will be given to families in La Merced district, Aija province. Cajamarca will see three families from La Coipa district benefit from this support, while five bonuses will be distributed in Arequipa across José Luis Bustamante y Rivero, Sabandía, and Characato districts where several homes became uninhabitable due to rain damage.

The Emergency Rental Housing Bonus consists of a monthly subsidy of S/500 for up to 24 months so that affected families can rent temporary accommodation as they work toward restoring stability in their lives. So far this year, the ministry has conducted eight calls for applications for this bonus program targeting families impacted by rainfall across various regions.
