The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation announced on Apr. 25 the twelfth call this year to provide 64 Emergency Rental Subsidies (BAE) to families who lost their homes due to recent heavy rains in several regions of Peru.
This initiative aims to support affected households by offering a monthly subsidy of S/500 for up to 24 months, allowing beneficiaries to rent safe housing while recovery and reconstruction efforts take place in their communities. The measure was approved through Ministerial Resolution No. 175-2026-VIVIENDA.
“Our priority is that the affected families have a safe place to live while they move forward with rebuilding their homes. This subsidy gives them immediate support so they can regain stability during a difficult time,” said representatives from the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.
According to the ministry, this twelfth round will benefit families across six regions: Áncash (12 subsidies), Amazonas (18), Ayacucho (8), Cusco (1), Junín (7), and Huánuco (18). Eligible households are those whose homes have been declared collapsed or uninhabitable and validated by housing authorities, with priority given to those most impacted by climate emergencies.
The Ministry contributes to social wellbeing by improving access to housing and basic services as part of its commitment to sustainable territorial development, according to its official website. The ministry operates as an autonomous entity within the Peruvian Executive Branch established under Law No. 27779 according to official information, with headquarters in San Isidro, Lima, and regional centers serving communities nationwide.
Its mandate includes developing policies that promote sustainable access not only in housing but also construction, water management, sanitation, and urban development for all Peruvians as outlined on its website. The ministry issues regulations supporting these areas as part of broader efforts toward sustainable growth.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment “to attend promptly” to families affected by severe weather events.
