The Ministry of Health announced on Apr. 23 that it will upgrade equipment at 83 health establishments as part of efforts to strengthen primary healthcare for patients in several districts of Metropolitan Lima.
This initiative aims to improve services through the Dirección de Redes Integradas de Salud (Diris) Lima Centro, under a specific agreement with the Faculties of Medicine, Stomatology, and Nursing at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. The improvements include providing high-precision LED otoscopes, which help visualize and examine ear canals and eardrums during check-ups.
Additionally, new pantoscopes featuring advanced technology will be distributed. These devices support diagnoses by allowing examinations of eyes, ears, nose, and larynx. Tablets and other modern technological tools are also part of the equipment upgrades.
According to the ministry’s statement, these resources are expected to enhance quality care for users across the 83 primary-level health centers as well as eight hospitals within Diris Lima Centro’s jurisdiction. The upgrades are also intended to strengthen professional training with a focus on human quality.
The Ministry said that through ongoing collaboration between Diris Lima Centro and Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, academic and scientific approaches in healthcare continue to be promoted for those most in need.
