The Ministry of Health announced on April 20 that it will organize a free virtual conference titled “Measles: Importance of Vaccination as a Public Health Strategy” on Thursday, April 23. The event is coordinated by the National School of Public Health and aims to strengthen the skills of health personnel across the country.
The conference seeks to address key topics related to measles, including its transmission dynamics, outbreak monitoring in Puno, the importance of vaccinating children under five years old, Peru’s national vaccination schedule and coverage for children, clinical aspects and complications of measles diagnosis, laboratory test interpretation, and ethical considerations in public health.
According to the announcement, participants who complete the methodological structure will receive certification. Interested individuals can register and access the online platform through a provided link.
Presentations will be delivered by professionals from several institutions within the Ministry of Health such as the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Disease Control; General Directorate for Strategic Interventions in Public Health; Immunization Directorate; National Children’s Institute at San Borja; and National Institute of Health. The event also includes representatives from the Secretariat for Ethical Training at Peru’s Medical College.
Juan Pizarro Laderas, director of the National School of Public Health, said: “It is policy from Minister Juan Velasco Guerrero to extend knowledge to different professionals. Our objective is to guarantee quality care for citizens.”
The initiative highlights ongoing efforts by health authorities to promote vaccination strategies and reinforce public health education among medical staff.
