The Ministry of Health announced on March 25 that it has deployed a team of 16 health professionals to the San Martín region to strengthen care for patients affected by dengue and leptospirosis. The group includes doctors, nurses, nursing technicians, laboratory technicians, and an infectious disease specialist.
This initiative is part of the “Plan de prevención y control del dengue 2026” launched by the Ministry. The medical personnel will remain in the area for seven days and will carry out their activities at Bellavista Hospital in the province of Bellavista.
Before deploying the team, the Ministry’s Directorate for Prevention and Control of Metaxenic Diseases and Zoonoses provided training based on national technical guidelines for comprehensive care of dengue patients as well as clinical management protocols for those affected by leptospirosis.
According to the statement, strengthening operational actions that protect public health is a policy under current Minister Juan Velasco Guerrero. Other ongoing measures in San Martín include campaigns to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites in coordination with local governments, dissemination of preventive messages, larval control efforts, among others.
