The Ministry of Health announced on Apr. 2 that its Digital Hospital service, part of Minsa Móvil, will continue to offer specialized medical care without interruption throughout the Holy Week holiday. The service operates around the clock, allowing people to access healthcare at any time.

This initiative is intended to ensure that residents can consult with specialists in family and community medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, and general surgery through digital channels. These remote services are designed to remove barriers related to distance and scheduling so that patients can receive timely consultations from any location.

The Digital Hospital service is available for individuals over 18 years old who are affiliated with the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) and live in Metropolitan Lima. Users can access care by visiting minsadigital.minsa.gob.pe or calling Line 113, option 2, from their mobile phones. Consultations are conducted via phone call or video call; prescriptions are sent electronically through WhatsApp or email, and medications can be collected at the nearest health facility.

According to the Ministry of Health, more than 7,860 consultations have been provided so far by the Digital Hospital program. The highest demand has come from Central Lima, followed by South Lima and North Lima districts. Many patients receiving care in Lima are registered with SIS in other regions.

As part of efforts to strengthen prevention and early diagnosis programs, over 2,770 telemammography readings have been performed through this digital platform. This has enabled women from various regions—including Ucayali, Cajamarca, Cusco, Tumbes, Lambayeque and San Martín—to benefit from early breast cancer detection services remotely.

Minister of Health Dr. Juan Carlos Velasco said these actions reinforce the ministry’s commitment as a coordinator for modernized healthcare: “With these actions…the Digital Hospital consolidates a model of care that overcomes geographic and time barriers.” He said this approach ensures more Peruvians have timely access to specialized services around the clock.
