The Ministry of Health announced on April 27 that more than 8,900 free medical consultations were provided during a health campaign held at the Elías Aguirre stadium in Chiclayo. The event took place from April 24 to April 26 as part of the Minsa Móvil strategy and aimed to meet the high demand for specialized healthcare services in the Lambayeque region.
According to the Ministry, residents from across the area attended throughout each day. Families, older adults, and young people received care in specialties such as pediatrics, psychiatry, cardiology, gynecology, pulmonology, ophthalmology, dermatology and general medicine. Patients had access to timely diagnoses and medical guidance all in one location.
The campaign also included immediate initiation of treatments through free distribution of medicines and reading glasses. Organizers said this approach helped remove financial barriers and reduced waiting times for thousands who needed care.
In addition to outpatient services at the stadium venue, Minsa Móvil teams performed four surgical procedures—including hernia repairs and removal of soft tissue tumors—on patients aged between 20 and 55 years old at Hospital Belén de Chiclayo. This expanded access to more complex healthcare interventions within the community.
Minister of Health Dr. Juan Carlos Velasco supervised activities during the campaign alongside Deputy Ministers Dr. Luis Loro Chero (Health Services) and Dr. Henry Rebaza Iparraguirre (Public Health), as well as local authorities who recognized how these efforts brought specialized health services closer to those most in need.
The Ministry stated that these actions reaffirm its commitment “to close gaps in access to specialized care by bringing timely, free and quality services to regions.”
