The Ministry of Health announced on Apr. 26 that around 400 people were vaccinated in the first two days of the Americas Vaccination Week at the National Institute of Child Health (INSN) Breña. The campaign, which runs from April 25 to May 3, aims to close immunization gaps and protect various groups against more than 28 diseases.

The vaccination effort offers free, safe, and effective vaccines for children, youth, adults, pregnant women, older adults, and hospitalized pediatric patients. The available vaccines cover influenza for different age groups and risk profiles as well as diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis B, pneumococcus, polio, whooping cough, measles, mumps and rubella among others.

Brigades will continue working throughout the week with the goal of expanding coverage and strengthening disease prevention in both the local community and across Peru. People interested in receiving vaccinations can visit INSN Breña’s vaccination center at Jr. Independencia 121 – Breña – Gate No.7 from Monday to Saturday between 7:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.

Dr. Benjamín Pimentel Román said immunization is “the main tool to prevent diseases,” urging parents to bring their children for vaccination not only during this special week but throughout the year when services are also available.

Lic. Ingrid Livia Arquiñigo described Americas Vaccination Week as “the festival of life,” encouraging families to foster a culture of vaccination at home by taking timely action to protect their health.
