The Ministry of Health provided 1,345 specialized medical services in the province of Jaén, Cajamarca, through its Minsa Móvil strategy, according to a March 15 announcement. The initiative aimed to improve access to healthcare and strengthen prevention efforts in the region.
The event was supervised by Shirley Monzón Villegas, Vice Minister of Health Benefits and Insurance, who acted on behalf of Minister Juan Carlos Velasco. The activity took place at the Plaza de Armas in Jaén and offered residents access to specialties such as pediatrics, gynecology, endocrinology, urology, traumatology, and ophthalmology. Additional services included obstetrics, nutrition counseling, free medication distribution, and reading glasses for people of all ages who presented their national identification document.
“Esta intervención reafirma nuestro compromiso del Minsa de descentralizar la salud y llevar especialistas donde más se necesitan,” said Monzón Villegas during her participation in the event. She also attended a multisectoral fair coordinated with other state entities aimed at improving the quality of life for families in Cajamarca.
The Ministry’s approach reflects ongoing efforts to reduce gaps in healthcare access across different regions. By deploying mobile medical teams and collaborating with various government agencies, officials say they hope to reach underserved populations more effectively.
Looking ahead, similar interventions are expected as part of broader strategies to decentralize health services and ensure that specialized care is available where it is most needed.
