The Ministry of Health announced on April 25 that it conducted an informational campaign about healthy school kiosks at the Reino de España Educational Institution in the Barranco district. The campaign was organized by Diris Lima Sur with the goal of strengthening healthy eating habits and preventing diseases within the school community.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among students, teachers, and parents about the importance of consuming safe foods and adhering to sanitary conditions in school kiosks. During the event, groups of students toured their school’s kiosk alongside professionals from Diris Lima Sur, who explained what criteria a healthy kiosk must meet. These include providing safe water, proper food handling, products with valid sanitary registration, and avoiding ultra-processed foods.
Participants were also reminded about key hygiene practices such as handwashing, drinking safe water, properly washing fruits and vegetables, and avoiding food that is spoiled or not stored correctly.
So far in 2026, Diris Lima Sur has carried out 35 sanitary inspections at school kiosks within its jurisdiction. Only one kiosk currently meets all established criteria to be considered a healthy kiosk.
“The Ministry of Health reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting healthy school environments that contribute to the well-being and comprehensive development of children and adolescents,” said officials.
