The Ministry of Health announced on May 1 that it is providing free vaccination services during the Día del Cómic Festival 2026, taking place from April 30 to May 3 in Jesús María. The initiative aims to reach thousands of attendees, including children, adults, and families.
The effort is part of Vaccination Week in the Americas and seeks to make health services more accessible by setting up an immunization stand staffed by health brigades at a popular cultural event. The goal is to protect public health through increased immunization coverage.
Liliana Chirinos Aponte, Director of Immunizations at the Ministry of Health, said: “We need to enter all social spaces, cultural spaces, public spaces. This is a great opportunity to vaccinate against measles, pneumococcus, hepatitis, influenza.” She also said: “Vaccination takes place throughout the year in all health establishments, which have vaccines for children, adolescents, pregnant women, adults and people over 60 years old.”
Chirinos Aponte emphasized the importance of checking vaccination cards and verifying regular schedules so that people can visit their local health center and complete their doses.
The Ministry stated it continues efforts to strengthen immunization in large gatherings by integrating culture with prevention and protection for the population.
