The Ministry of Health announced on May 3 the start of a large-scale medical campaign in Piura, offering free specialized care and advanced cardiovascular procedures. The initiative includes five cardiovascular surgeries and fifteen complex cardiac catheterizations at the Hospital de Apoyo II de Sullana for critically ill patients. Additionally, the Minsa Móvil health caravan will provide services in more than fifteen specialties in Bernal and Querecotillo.
This campaign aims to address urgent health needs by reducing waiting lists and improving access to high-level medical care for residents of Sechura and Sullana provinces. According to the Ministry, sixteen specialists from the National Heart Network (Renacor) will treat patients between ages thirty and sixty until May 7.
The mobile health units are stationed at the Coliseo Municipal de Bernal from May 3 to May 5, and at Plaza de Armas de Querecotillo on May 4 and May 5. Residents can receive free consultations in gynecology, pediatrics, urology, endocrinology, ultrasound exams, among other key services.
“Through this intervention, the Ministry of Health reaffirms its commitment to decentralize high-complexity medical services and break down barriers to healthcare access in regions most in need,” said Dr. Luis Napoleón Quiroz Avilés. He also said that bringing infrastructure and top-level specialists from institutions such as Hospital Nacional Dos de Mayo closer to local communities offers hope for families awaiting critical surgeries.
The ministry said that this comprehensive deployment reflects a state vision where healthcare is timely, free, quality-oriented, prioritizing gap reduction so no Peruvian is left behind when it comes to their well-being.
