The Ministry of Health participated on March 16 in an event marking the start of the 2026 school year in Tembladera, Cajamarca. Shirley Monzón, Vice Minister of Health Services and Insurance, attended on behalf of the Minister of Health.

The event highlighted efforts to strengthen cooperation between health and education authorities for the benefit of students. Monzón met with the regional governor and other officials to discuss ways to improve joint work supporting student health and education.

Monzón also visited San Isidro Educational Institution, where she toured classrooms and spoke with students, teachers, and administrators about creating healthy environments within schools. She said, “Today more than six million public school students return to classrooms. The start of the school year represents an opportunity to renew the country’s commitment to education. From the Ministry of Health we work together with the Ministry of Education because a child learns better if they are healthy, well-nourished, and protected.”

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continue working with all levels of government and the education sector to promote health care and well-being for children and adolescents nationwide.
