The Ministry of Health announced on May 6 that it carried out sanitary supervision activities in the Ucayali region. The actions were conducted through the General Directorate of Environmental Health and Food Safety, known as Digesa, with the aim of verifying compliance with health surveillance and control functions and strengthening technical capacities in the field.
According to the ministry, a technical team from Digesa accompanied the Regional Health Directorate during sanitary inspections at Hospital II de Pucallpa of ESSALUD and at Hospital Regional de Pucallpa, both located in Coronel Portillo district. The inspections focused on evaluating management processes for solid waste handling in these health establishments, ensuring they meet current health regulations.
During these interventions, officials checked procedures related to segregation, storage, internal transport, and final disposal of solid waste. They also verified adherence to established protocols for preventing health and environmental risks. Additionally, a visit was made to Cementerio General de Pucallpa to assess its sanitary conditions and risk management practices associated with its operation.
These activities are carried out under Technical Health Standard No. 144-MINSA/2018/DIGESA on comprehensive management and handling of solid waste in healthcare facilities. According to the ministry’s statement, this work strengthens Digesa’s regulatory role and ensures proper implementation of regional sanitary surveillance functions by promoting standardized technical criteria.
The Ministry said it continues conducting supervisory actions and providing technical assistance nationwide to improve healthcare management and protect public health.
