The Ministry of Health, through the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and with support from the Peruvian Army, conducted an aeromedical transfer of four injured patients from Ayacucho hospital to higher complexity health facilities in Lima on March 16. The transfer aimed to ensure timely and specialized care for those affected.
This operation is significant as it demonstrates a coordinated response by health authorities to provide immediate medical attention during emergencies. Such transfers can be critical for patients requiring advanced treatment not available locally.
According to the Ministry, the SAMU team carried out the air evacuation and continuously monitored the patients throughout the journey, maintaining medical care until their arrival at referral hospitals. Among those transferred were two individuals with minor multiple contusions, a 41-year-old woman with a femur fracture and cranioencephalic trauma, and a 61-year-old man with multiple contusions and a right wrist fracture.
Medical references indicate that two patients were taken to José Casimiro Ulloa Emergency Hospital while the other two were admitted to Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital. Each patient will receive specialized care according to their clinical progress.
The Ministry said this action is part of an integrated health sector response designed to guarantee immediate attention for people affected by emergencies.
