The Ministry of Health announced on April 6 that it will launch a free health campaign in the city of Pucallpa, offering services from April 7 to April 9 at Plaza San Fernando in the district of Manantay. The campaign, organized through Minsa Móvil, aims to bring medical care to those who need it most and address gaps in healthcare access.
The initiative is important as it provides residents with access to a wide range of medical specialties without cost, helping improve preventive care and treatment for underserved populations.
Over three days, attendees can receive consultations in twelve different specialties including pediatrics, geriatrics, oncology, dermatology, gynecology, endocrinology, ophthalmology, general surgery, pulmonology (neumología), cardiology, family medicine and internal medicine. Additional services such as pediatric dentistry (odontopediatría), psychology, nutrition counseling (nutrición), optometry (optometría), immunizations and screenings for HIV and syphilis will also be available. All services are offered free of charge; individuals only need to present their National Identity Document.
As part of the intervention efforts coordinated with the Regional Health Directorate of Ucayali and the Integrated Health Network of Coronel Portillo district authorities will distribute medications and reading glasses at no cost. This ensures that people not only receive timely diagnoses but also have access to necessary treatments.
The Ministry said these efforts reaffirm its commitment “to reach this part of the Peruvian jungle with comprehensive health services—free and high-quality—bringing specialized care closer to those who need it most while reducing barriers to access.” Residents are encouraged by officials “to take advantage of this opportunity to look after their own health and that of their families.”
