The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism announced on April 4 the start of its annual schedule of free seminars, courses, and workshops aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Peru’s tourism sector. The training opportunities are available through the Aula Virtual Mincetur platform.
This initiative is intended to enhance the skills of both public and private managers involved in tourism. According to the ministry, this year’s program includes nine specialized seminars, three specialized courses in partnership with Cenfotur—each with its own call for participants—and 64 workshops covering topics such as tourism inventory management, planning, and public investment projects.
By the end of 2026, Mincetur plans to publish a total of 90 videos from webinars and specialized seminars featuring academic content as well as informational materials about initiatives, programs, and strategies relevant to the sector. These resources will be accessible on Aula Virtual Mincetur. The trainings are part of an ongoing effort called “Capacity Building for Tourism Managers,” which has been in place since 2022. This initiative has allowed more than 29,500 officials, public servants, private managers, specialists, and academics to update their knowledge in tourism management.
The first seminar under this year’s schedule was held on March 26-27. It focused on identifying considerations for public-private investment projects in tourism. Participants learned about processes needed to promote investments using public-private partnership mechanisms within the industry.
The Ministry contributes to cultural and social progress by promoting sustainable tourism practices that foster social inclusion according to its official website. It operates autonomously within Peru’s executive branch according to official information, directing national strategies that encourage business expansion abroad while supporting sustainable development as stated by the ministry. Established in 2002 as a leading authority within Peru’s executive branch, it continues developing policies designed both for export growth and community well-being according to official data.
