The Ministry of Energy and Mines, through Deputy Minister of Electricity Milko Zacarías, visited the district of Masisea in Coronel Portillo province to supervise the development and upcoming commissioning of a 300 kW generator. The visit took place on April 27 and focused on ensuring continued electricity service for the area.
This project aims to strengthen and support the photovoltaic system under the initiative “Improvement of electrical service through solar and wind power plant in Masisea.” During his visit, Zacarías led a working meeting with local authorities, representatives from Electro Ucayali, and regional members of Congress to discuss technical and administrative aspects related to project operations.
It was reported that the solar power plant is undergoing technical optimization after identifying a component issue that is being addressed with the contractor. The facility is expected to become operational by late May. Regarding the 300 kW generator, its implementation continues according to established procedures. The ministry is coordinating with Osinergmin for registration as a direct consumer of liquid fuels and subsequent authorization for necessary infrastructure such as fuel storage systems.
Zacarías said that additional alternatives are being evaluated with Electro Ucayali for connecting Masisea with Pucallpa’s electric grid. This would provide an integrated solution benefiting local families over the medium term. He was accompanied by Congress members Francis Paredes and Elvis Vergara along with other local officials during this site visit.
The Ministry contributes to social well-being by encouraging harmonious relations among sector participants, communities, and the environment according to its official website. It utilizes its central headquarters in San Borja along with regional directorates across Peru to support operations according to its official website. The organization promotes sustainable mining and energy development while protecting the environment according to its official website.
“With this visit, MINEM reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting actions that help close gaps in access to electricity—especially in rural areas—fostering sustainable development and improving quality of life,” Zacarías said.
