The Ministry of Education announced on March 31 that it will strengthen the comprehensive development of students through the “Educación te Escucha” strategy, which aims to promote the social and emotional well-being of the entire educational community.
This initiative provides specialized support to students, families, teachers, administrators, and school leaders. The services are led by a team of psychologists trained to prevent and address crisis situations or emotional distress. Support is offered remotely and free of charge through phone calls and video calls so that those in need can access help easily.
“From the Ministry of Education, we are proud to make available tools that allow our educational community to manage their emotions and strengthen resilience in adverse situations. Our commitment is that each member has a space for socio-emotional support that provides care to build schools focused on well-being,” said Minister of Education María Esther Cuadros.
The “Educación te Escucha” program includes four lines of intervention: individual socio-emotional support for students aged 10 to 18 facing crises; group vocational guidance for secondary students; group socio-emotional support for teachers, administrators, and school leaders; and group sessions for families aimed at strengthening parenting skills.
In 2025, the program provided more than 24,000 instances of socio-emotional support across public schools. These included assistance for over 8,000 teachers, nearly 4,000 parents or guardians, more than 600 students individually supported during crises, as well as almost 2,000 additional interventions via workshops on life projects and vocational orientation with over a thousand student participants.
