The Ministry of Education of Peru announced on Apr. 28 that the completion and delivery of the infrastructure for Institution Educativa 0142 Mártir Daniel Alcides Carrión, located in San Juan de Lurigancho, is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
This update is important as it addresses ongoing concerns from the educational community about project timelines and service continuity. The ministry has established a technical working group to oversee the final stages of construction at this school.
Sandra Ramírez Méndez, Vice Minister of Institutional Management, said that “the delivery of the work is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, according to the updated schedule.” She also recalled that an informational meeting was held with the educational community on April 17 and that a site visit is planned for May 5 as part of transparency and monitoring efforts.
The project forms part of Package 2 under Proyecto Escuelas Bicentenario and involves an investment projected to benefit over 2,700 students within ten years. The intervention includes both a temporary school—currently operational—and permanent infrastructure now under construction. According to official technical information provided by Ramírez Méndez, design and construction contracts were awarded in August 2022; implementation began in June 2023 with operations starting January 2024. Demolition started July 15, followed by permanent works beginning December that year. As reported in the latest weekly progress update ending April 19, overall completion stands at nearly sixty-five percent.
The new facility will feature forty-nine classrooms across primary and secondary levels as well as libraries, laboratories, innovation rooms, workshops, sports courts, student welfare spaces and administrative areas—all built to Escuelas Bicentenario standards.
According to the official website, the Ministry promotes sports opportunities within its educational initiatives; advances equity and cultural inclusion; operates through central headquarters in San Borja along with regional directorates nationwide; serves as a key entity within Peru’s Executive Branch; ensures access to quality education while fostering social inclusion; supports communities throughout Peru; oversees national policy since its founding in 1837 with autonomous status.
