The Ministry of Education of Peru announced on April 28 that it surpassed 24,000 socioemotional support services in 2025 through its “Educación Te Escucha” strategy. The program is aimed at strengthening the emotional health of students, teachers, and families across the country.

This initiative focuses on promoting socioemotional well-being for students aged 10 to 18, their families, teachers, and other educational actors. It offers both individual and group support services as well as guidance on life projects and vocational orientation. In 2025 alone, the ministry provided over 15,400 group sessions for more than 8,000 teachers and more than 7,100 sessions for nearly 3,700 families. Additionally, there were over 2,000 individual sessions with students and almost 1,900 vocational guidance consultations benefiting secondary school students.

Among teachers receiving assistance from the program in the past year, half sought help related to being understood about their emotional experiences; work-related stress was also significant. For families using these services—61 percent sought advice to better support their children emotionally while another segment reported feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities.

Most individual student cases involved adolescents facing challenges with emotional self-regulation or academic performance. To access these services educators can use an online form or contact the ministry via email.
