The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening technical-productive education during the start of classes at the Centro de Educación Técnico-Productiva (CETPRO) Centro Folklórico del Magisterio in Breña, according to a March 18 announcement. The ministry emphasized the role these institutions play in creating job opportunities for young people and adults.
Juan Navarro Pando, Vice Minister of Pedagogical Management, said CETPROs serve as a strategic alternative that is relevant, flexible, and focused on developing skills for life and work. “These educational institutions play a fundamental role so that thousands of young people develop skills, access recognized certifications, and build life projects with greater opportunities. From the Ministry of Education, we will continue to strengthen this educational modality throughout the country,” Navarro Pando said.
The Centro Folklórico del Magisterio offers specialized training in traditional Peruvian dance and music. Its programs combine technical skills with cultural identity and artistic development. The center provides instruction in Andean dances, marinera, Afro-Peruvian dances, and musical training on various instruments taught by 13 specialist teachers.
Recently, six students from the center were admitted to university to continue their artistic studies. This outcome demonstrates how technical-productive education can serve as a platform for academic and professional growth among young people.
The event included performances featuring marinera, Andean dances, Afro-Peruvian dances, and musical ensembles. These presentations showcased student talent and highlighted CETPRO’s contribution to preserving and promoting Peru’s cultural heritage.
The Ministry of Education said it will continue efforts to expand access to quality technical-productive education and strengthen its integration with other parts of the educational system.
