The Ministry of Culture announced on March 28 its participation in the forum “Where there is water, equality grows,” organized by the National Water Authority in Sánchez Carrión province, La Libertad region. The event was held to mark World Water Day and brought together public and private entities as well as grassroots organizations.
The forum focused on sustainable management of water resources and their connection to social development. Participants discussed the importance of integrated approaches that link water conservation with the protection of cultural heritage.
During the event, Executing Unit 007 Marcahuamachuco presented “Peruvian Legislation on Cultural Heritage,” offering an overview of cultural rights and current legal frameworks for protecting, conserving, and promoting Peru’s cultural heritage. The presentation emphasized considering cultural and archaeological contexts when planning projects related to natural resources, especially those involving water.
Organizers said that such forums help raise awareness among citizens and institutions about the close relationship between natural resources and cultural heritage. They highlighted how joint actions can benefit both present and future generations.
The Ministry stated that its participation helped strengthen inter-institutional cooperation while reaffirming its commitment to defending and safeguarding Peru’s cultural heritage through integration into sustainable development policies.
