The Ministry of Culture of Peru announced on Apr. 8 the opening of applications for the Ibero-American Dance Prize 2026, an initiative led by the Ibero-American Dance Platform, the Program for Cooperation in Ibero-American Performing Arts (IBERESCENA), and the Ibero-American General Secretariat. The call is open until May 21 and is aimed at groups, networks, platforms, and collective projects in the dance sector.
This award seeks to recognize and highlight collective efforts that have contributed to growth, professionalization, and sustainability within the dance community across Ibero-America. According to organizers, eligible initiatives must be active civil society projects linked to dance in any form or expression with a minimum trajectory of seven years. They must also have generated tangible impacts through collaborative actions carried out in at least three countries within the region.
The winning initiative will receive a single prize of 6,000 euros. Additionally, three special mentions will be awarded regional exposure through institutional channels managed by organizing entities. A specialized jury appointed by these organizations will select recipients based on criteria such as cooperation, diversity, commitment to cultural rights, sustainability of processes, and connection with communities.
During the application period, virtual meetings will be held with members from the Ibero-American Dance Platform to provide guidance and answer questions from interested organizations.
