The Ministry of Culture organized the IV Regional Meeting of Cultural Councils in Junín, bringing together 120 cultural agents, including managers and public officials, according to an April 2 announcement. The event was held in coordination with the Regional Government of Junín, local governments, and cultural councils to strengthen participation and dialogue aimed at promoting cultural development in the region.
The meeting included working groups focused on key areas such as arts, cultural heritage, interculturality, libraries, and photography. Participants developed proposals for the region’s 2026 cultural agenda. The event also recognized the Network of Public Officials in Culture from Junín as part of efforts to improve collaboration among different levels of government.
Major agreements reached during the meeting include implementing a music training program; promoting a regional ordinance supporting the arts; strengthening use of cultural infrastructure; encouraging circulation of cultural goods and services; creating a photobook about Junín as a creative city for music; and launching a program for cultural entrepreneurship to boost the local economy. In addition, organizers announced that 60 scholarships will be offered to sector agents and officials for a diploma course in Public Cultural Management with an intercultural focus.
The installation of the Regional Library Network was also finalized with technical support from Peru’s National Library. This initiative aims to improve institutional coordination, expand access to cultural services, and promote reading across Junín.
“These agreements reflect concrete results from our model of cultural governance that strengthens agents, promotes access to arts, and helps safeguard our heritage. They reaffirm the Ministry’s role as leader in building inclusive and sustainable policies,” said Javier Rojas León, director of DDC Junín.
All agreements were formalized in an act that will be binding with support from the Regional Government.
