Ministry of Culture begins electrical modernization at National Museum of Sicán

The Ministry of Culture announced on Mar. 16 that it is carrying out the third stage of a public investment project to upgrade the electrical infrastructure at the National Museum of Sicán, located in Ferreñafe province, Lambayeque region.

The project aims to improve conditions for conserving, displaying, and sharing the museum’s cultural heritage while enhancing services for visitors. The work is part of a broader initiative titled “Improvement and construction of infrastructure and equipment at the National Museum of Sicán.” The current phase has an investment of S/ 2,698,354.16 and is being executed by Consorcio Sicán III under a contract with a completion timeline of 120 calendar days.

Carlos Wester La Torre, director of Executing Unit 005 Naylamp – Lambayeque, said these efforts are key actions to strengthen heritage conservation and improve visitor experience. “These works constitute key actions to reinforce the conservation of heritage and optimize the experience for visiting audiences, in line with sector actions aimed at improving cultural infrastructure and services provided to citizens,” Wester La Torre said.

According to Wester La Torre, the project includes implementing an electrical distribution system throughout all museum buildings. This will involve installing a medium-voltage network, a distribution substation, a main switchboard, a generator set, and constructing a shelter for its operation.

The Ministry stated that this initiative reaffirms its commitment to strengthening museums in the region by ensuring proper conditions for preserving cultural heritage and making it accessible to citizens.
