The Ministry of Culture of Peru announced on April 21 that the exhibition “Tensión y resonancia” by Peruvian artist Jorge Miyagui will be open to the public until April 25 at its main headquarters. The show, located in the Hall on the first floor, is available from Tuesday to Sunday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The exhibition brings together seven years of Miyagui’s artistic development through thirteen works that examine digital speed and fragmented time in contemporary life. The ministry said this initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to expand access to culture and provide high-level exhibition spaces for national creators.

“Tensión y resonancia” moves beyond painting, presenting an intercultural dialogue that explores nikkei identity, family tradition, historiography, and popular imagination. Regarding his work, Jorge Miyagui said: “La yuxtaposición de imágenes de distintas tradiciones culturales me permite establecer relaciones poéticas entre estos elementos y construir figuras de retórica visual para formar discursos que son críticos y a la vez poéticos.”

Miyagui holds a degree in Art from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and has exhibited internationally in Helsinki, Mexico, and Argentina. He is recognized as one of his generation’s most thoughtful artists for connecting aesthetics with ethics and social commitment.

According to the official website, the Ministry of Culture fosters social inclusion by protecting heritage and promoting diversity across Peru. It utilizes decentralized facilities and museums alongside its San Borja headquarters to support cultural programs throughout the country. The ministry belongs to the Peruvian Executive Branch as an autonomous entity led by its minister.

The ministry also promotes cultural identity while combating discrimination and racism; it advances intercultural dialogue according to its official website. Since its creation in 2010, it has worked to safeguard heritage while encouraging initiatives that strengthen national identity through contemporary art.
