The Ministry of Culture of Peru announced on April 10 the Annual Economic Stimulus Plan for 2026, aimed at supporting performing arts, visual arts, and music. The plan will allocate S/ 5,082,500 through public calls to fund artistic projects, research processes, national and international circulation, cultural production, and recognition of artistic careers.
This initiative is designed to strengthen sustainable development in the arts sector and promote cultural rights throughout the country. According to the ministry’s announcement, “Esta edición contempla 15 líneas concursables que beneficiarán aproximadamente a 230 agentes culturales, entre personas naturales y jurídicas de todas las regiones del país.” The plan was formalized by Ministerial Resolution No. 000096-2026-MC.
Since its implementation in 2018 until 2025, more than S/26.9 million has been invested through these economic incentives to benefit over 1,325 cultural agents across Peru. In just the past year alone (2025), approximately two-thirds of beneficiaries were from regions outside Lima and Callao; nearly three-fifths of supported projects were led by women.
The ministry said that contests in the new plan will support various creative stages including production in performing arts and visual arts; dance; traditional art; live music; social transformation art projects; festivals; improvement of cultural facilities; research for the arts; community-based cultural networks (Puntos de Cultura); as well as awards such as Premio a la Destacada Trayectoria Artística and Premio Nacional de Dramaturgia. Details about application periods—set between April-June—and contest guidelines are available on the official portal: https://estimuloseconomicos.cultura.gob.pe/2026/estimulos-economicos-para-las-artes-escenicas-las-artes-visuales-y-la-musica-2026.
