The Minister of Production, César Quispe Luján, announced on March 30 several initiatives aimed at strengthening productivity, innovation, and development for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (Mipyme) across Peru. The announcement was made during the First National Meeting for Training in Productive Development, organized by the Ministry of Education as part of the implementation of Peru’s National Qualifications Framework.

These efforts are significant because they target improvements in business competitiveness and seek to provide more opportunities for smaller enterprises throughout the country.

Quispe Luján said that PRODUCE is carrying out various actions focused on enhancing productive capacities. “We continue to strengthen our Centers for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITE). We will invest more than 100 million soles to equip the CITE centers in Chavimochic, Huancavelica, Junín, and San Martín,” he said.

He also reported that over 121 million dollars have been allocated to strengthen the ProInnóvate program. This initiative aims to benefit more than 135 thousand Mipyme with access to innovation and technology. Quispe Luján added that programs are already being implemented to promote artificial intelligence adoption and digital tools among micro and small businesses.

The minister highlighted the recent awarding of Ancón Industrial Park as a key development expected to attract over 1.2 billion dollars in private investment. He described it as a future hub for productive development in northern Lima.

Other attendees at the event included María Esther Cuadros, Minister of Education; Óscar Fernández, Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion; and Matilde Bordón from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Peru. During his remarks, Quispe Luján emphasized collaboration between government agencies, academia, and business sectors as crucial for creating learning pathways suited to current national challenges. He also underlined the value of Peru’s National Qualifications Framework as a tool for recognizing skills acquired throughout life.
