The Minister of Production, César Quispe Luján, announced on March 19 that Peru has expanded its support infrastructure for innovation and productive development, increasing from three Centers for Productive Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITE) to more than 25 centers and 11 Technical Units across the country.
This announcement was made during the opening of the First Summit of the CITE Network of the Technological Institute of Production (ITP) 2026. Quispe Luján said this achievement is the result of a sustained strategy over the past eleven years, during which ITP focused on closing gaps in infrastructure and advanced equipment.
“Today we see how that seed planted between 2012 and 2016 has borne fruit. The organization has focused much of its attention on a construction phase that we now successfully conclude. We are now beginning a new phase where the main focus will be the decisive impact of this network on productive development and value generation,” said Quispe Luján.
He also said that transforming ITP is a national necessity, emphasizing that sustainable productive development is not possible without innovation and technology applied to regional biodiversity and potential. The minister highlighted ongoing collaboration with regional governments so they can lead their own innovation center projects, decentralizing knowledge and competitiveness tools for micro and small enterprises.
The First Summit of the CITE Network will take place on March 19 and 20, aiming to become an annual space for exchange between public and private sectors. The event will include specialists, businesspeople, and representatives from CITE networks who will analyze new metrics and indicators marking this results-driven stage for Peruvian industry.
