The Minister of Health visited hospitals on April 3 to check on people injured in an accident at Alejandro Villanueva Stadium in the district of La Victoria. The minister went to Loayza and Dos de Mayo hospitals, where several injured individuals had been taken, to see their condition and confirm that medical care was being provided free of charge.

The Ministry activated an alert across all hospitals so they could provide emergency care if needed. According to the Minister, “There are 47 people injured: 15 have been transferred to Dos de Mayo Hospital, 12 to Loayza Hospital, three to Pediatric Emergency Hospital, one to Hipólito Unanue Hospital, one to INSN Breña, and others to private clinics.”

“The health system as a whole acted immediately. Eight ambulances from SAMU participated along with the General Volunteer Fire Department of Peru and EsSalud. The purpose of my visit is to guarantee comprehensive care for all those injured,” said the Minister.

He also addressed families affected by the incident: “We send a message of reassurance to the families of those injured; everyone is being treated under full SIS coverage and there will be no payment required. This is how Minsa acts immediately,” he said.

The Minister announced he would continue visiting health facilities personally in order to monitor patients’ progress. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment “to provide timely attention and guarantee protection for the health of those affected.”
