José Reyes, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, visited the South Pier Terminal at the Port of Callao on Mar. 16 to review planned investments by DP World aimed at strengthening operational capacity and improving logistics at Peru’s main port.

The proposed projects by DP World include acquiring new equipment, optimizing and expanding operational areas, and other initiatives designed to increase efficiency at the terminal. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance the competitiveness of the port.

During the visit, Reyes met with executives from DP World to discuss actions focused on improving logistical access and vehicle flow into the Port of Callao. The meeting was also attended by César Llona, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, and Cristina Lazo, Director of Corporate Affairs for DP World.

The South Pier Terminal is managed by DP World through a public-private partnership. The facility has an annual operational capacity of approximately 2.7 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), which supports Callao’s position as Peru’s leading port.

The discussions between Mincetur officials and DP World representatives reflect ongoing efforts to ensure that infrastructure keeps pace with growing trade demands.
