The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) announced on April 1 that a S/120 discount is now available for taxi drivers with vehicles operating on Natural Gas for Vehicles (GNV) in Lima, Callao, and Ica. The benefit applies to those registered with the Urban Transport Authority (ATU) or provincial municipalities of Ica as part of measures to mitigate the impact of restrictions following the energy emergency recorded in March.

The initiative aims to support authorized taxi drivers affected by recent energy sector disruptions. To qualify for the discount, drivers must have a valid authorization to provide taxi services as of March 9, 2026, and possess a Unique Circulation Card (TUC).

According to MINEM, “the discount will be applied to GNV consumption and administered through COFIDE’s system.” Drivers can activate the benefit by registering their vehicle license plate number and TUC on the web platform http://descuentognv.infogas.com.pe. After validation in the system and selecting one service station where they will use the discount, users may access it starting from the third business day after registration.

The process is automatic at participating stations: each time fuel is loaded, payment is deducted from the S/120 credit until it is exhausted. For example, if a driver refuels for S/20, that amount will be subtracted from their available balance.

This benefit can be used until December 31, 2026. It covers all authorized taxi drivers who have either completed payment for their GNV conversion or financed it through means other than the Social Energy Inclusion Fund (FISE). MINEM said its commitment remains focused on adopting measures aimed at reducing economic impacts on families during emergencies related to this sector.

For further information or inquiries about eligibility or procedures, users may contact MINEM via phone at (01) 5100300 Option 5 or extensions 7102, 7103, and 7106.
