The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) announced on Mar. 18 that the supply of food to wholesale markets was normal, with a variety of products available for both traders and consumers. The ministry highlighted offers on items such as beans, corn, carrots, oranges, bananas, prickly pears, and others.

This update is important for traders and consumers who rely on stable supplies and transparent pricing in Lima’s main wholesale markets. According to official reports from MIDAGRI, the total supply of essential goods at the capital’s wholesale markets reached 7,932 tons by morning. This figure combines data from the Gran Mercado Mayorista de Lima (GMML) and the Mercado Mayorista de Frutas No. 2 de La Victoria.

At GMML, 5,544 tons of products including legumes, vegetables, and tubers were delivered—a volume 2.8% higher than the average over the last four Wednesdays. Potato varieties alone accounted for 1,785 tons entering the market, which is a 17.9% increase compared to recent weeks. Wholesale prices for key products included carrots at S/0.58 per kilogram; bagged limes at S/1.06; macre squash at S/1.53; red onions at S/1.60; green broad beans at S/1.73; huayro potatoes at S/1.88; Yungay potatoes at S/1.93; yellow sweet potatoes at S/1.95; unica potatoes at S/2.23; peruanita potatoes at S/2.28; long olluco at S/2.33; American green beans at S/2.38; yellow potatoes at S/2.73; katia tomatoes at S/2.92; purple sweet potatoes and yellow cassava both at S/3.00 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, Mercado de Frutas Nro.2 de La Victoria received 2,388 tons of fruit—up by 1.2% compared to previous Wednesdays—with notable offers such as watermelon for S/0.88 per kilogram and various other fruits like melons, bananas, apples, oranges, avocados, grapes, tangerines, pineapples and mangoes listed with their respective prices.

Poultry supplies were also sufficient to meet demand in Lima’s distribution centers: live chicken was sold wholesale for an average price of S/8.10 per kilogram while eggs were priced at S/6.40 per kilogram.

To help citizens stay informed about current prices across major wholesale and selected retail points in Lima city—including tubers, fruits and vegetables—MIDAGRI has launched a special online platform developed by its technical team in record time: https://siea.midagri.gob.pe/portal/precios.
