The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) announced on March 28 the winners of the National Cheese Board Competition “Quesarte 2026,” an initiative aimed at promoting Peruvian artisanal cheese and supporting its presence in the domestic market.
The event brought together 70 producers and entrepreneurs from 18 regions across the country. Participants competed in Producer and Entrepreneur categories, presenting innovative proposals that highlighted the diversity and quality of Peru’s national cheese offerings.
Felipe Meza Millán, Minister of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, said during the ceremony, “From MIDAGRI we promote ‘Quesarte’ to strengthen the promotion and commercialization of Peruvian artisanal cheese, connecting our producers with new market opportunities. Likewise, 75% of participants are women entrepreneurs, whom we congratulate for their valuable contribution to energizing the rural economy.”
According to MIDAGRI, this initiative helps strengthen commercial links by bringing producers closer to new forms of consumption and generating more opportunities for livestock families.
In the Producers category, Lácteos “El Ingenio del Valle Azul” from Junín was awarded first place for its quality, creativity, and presentation after ten years in business.
The ministry said that “Quesarte 2026” recognizes creativity, tradition, and talent among those who bring Peru’s best cheeses to consumers’ tables while helping position artisanal cheese as a product with identity and added value.
